Nurnberg vs Borussia Dortmund: Lucien Favre’s Best Available BVB Lineup

Borussia Dortmund will be travelling to face bottom of the league club Nurnberg on Monday night in what they will hope should be an easy win.

Dortmund boss Lucien Favre will feel a little concerned with his side’s dip in form which has allowed rivals Bayern Munich to move only two points behind them in the Bundesliga.

BVB are winless in their last four encounters and have conceded ten goals in that time. The club have also given themselves a mountain to climb in the Champions League after a devastating 3-0 loss in London on Wednesday night to Tottenham Hotspur.

Here is how Dortmund could line up to face Nurnburg on Monday.

3. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Julian Weigl

Roman Burki (GK) – Burki has been an ever-present between the sticks for BVB and will hope for a clean sheet against the bottom of the table club.

Achraf Hakimi (RB) – The attacking right back will hope to add to his two goals and four assists already this season.

Abdou Diallo (CB) – Slotting in at centre-back, Diallo will look to get on the ball throughout the game.

Julian Weigl (CB) – Weigl looks to have recovered from his illness and should make the starting lineup on Monday night.

Marcel Schmelzer (LB) – Coming in as a direct replacement for the injured Lukasz Piszczek, the Dortmund veteran will add to his seven Bundesliga appearances this season.

2. Midfielders

Axel Witsel

Axel Witsel (CM) – The Belgian international will hope to leave his performance against Spurs in the Champions League behind him come Monday night.

Thomas Delaney (CM) – The deep lying midfielder will look to bridge the gap between defence and attack throughout the game.

Maximilian Phillip (CM) – With Favre possibly looking to give several players a rest, Phillip may come in for the game and hope to get on the attack as much as he can.

1. Attackers

Jadon Sancho

Raphael Guerreiro (LW) – The Portuguese winger adds to Dortmund’s sheer speed and skill in attack.

Mario Gotze (ST) – Coming in for the injured Paco Alcacer, Gotze will hope he can fill the shoes of his striking teammate.

Jadon Sancho (RW) – One of the most talented teenagers in the world, Sancho will have to take the weight of getting goals on his shoulders with leading scorer Marco Reus still out with injury.
