Manchester City Vs Leicester City: Preview, Team News, Likely Lineups, And Prediction

League leaders Manchester City host an improving Leicester City in the late kick-off this Saturday in the Premier League.

The Manchester side have lost four out of their six home games against Leicester in the Premier League, their highest percentage of home defeats against any team in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side played a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor, against Burnley, last Saturday, in their latest game. Johann Berg Gudmundsson equalized late in the second half for Burnley after Danilo had given City the lead 22 minutes into the game.

The draw against Sean Dyche’s men ended a four-match winning streak in all competitions, for Man City. This was only the fourth time this season they have failed to win a league game.

Meanwhile, Leicester City played a 1-1 draw against a resurgent Swansea side. Claude Puel’s side took the lead in the game through Jamie Vardy strike early in the first half. Federico Fernandez equalized for the swans eight minutes into the second half, and the game ended in a point each for the two sides.

The draw last weekend meant the foxes have lost just one out of their last eight games in all competitions, winning four games in the process.

The point against Burnley took Man City’s points total to 69 for the season. They are 13 points clear of rivals Manchester United, who are currently second. Pep’s side have scored 74 goals in the league this season, which is at least 15 more than any other side in the division.

The Citizens have been impressive defensively as well, having conceded just 19 goals in the competition. Only rivals United have let in fewer goals in the division.

The Foxes are currently eight in the Premier League table with 35 points. They are just a point behind Burnley who are seventh and four points clear of Bournemouth who are ninth in the table.

Leicester have turned their season around under Claude Puel, after a very poor start to the campaign. When the board sacked Craig Shakespeare two months into the season, the foxes were flirting with the relegation zone.

Riyad Mahrez, who was the Player of the Season in the Premier League, in Leicester’s title-winning season of 2015/16, has been working his angles for a move away from the King Power, since last summer, but the player has not been sold even in the winter transfer window.

The Algerian has expressed his unhappiness with the club over their asking price for Mahrez which was reported to be in the region of £ 65 million, by refusing to show up to team meetings and training sessions.

Mahrez has been dropped from the squad for the last three games in all competitions by Puel as a result of his unprofessional showings. Whether Mahrez will be a part of what Claude Puel is building at Leicester, is yet to be seen.

Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 25 home matches in the league. Guardiola’s men have scored at least three goals in their last five Premier League home games, the most they have done is six games.

While the record belongs to Manchester United, who scored at least three goals in seven consecutive home games in the league in 2010.

After a seven-game unbeaten run on the road, the Leicester have managed just one point from the available 12 over the last four games. The foxes have not collected a single point in any of their last nine league games against sides starting the day at the top of the league, losing all nine matches with an aggregate score of 3-20.

Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy are two in-form strikers who will be up against each other on Saturday. Aguero has scored 17 goals in the league this season whereas, Vardy has 12. Aguero has scored in each of his last six games at Etihad in all competitions, scoring 10 goals in the process.

The Argentine has never scored in seven consecutive home games. Meanwhile, Vardy has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances. The point against Burnley took Man City’s points total to 69 for the season. Manchester City vs Leicester Prediction

Man City have been really successful with possession football, under Guardiola, this season. Leicester City, however, would fancy their chances going forward, especially with the pace of Vardy in the counter-attack

Leicester will sit in to try and frustrate the home side and hit them on the break. Leicester’s recent away record has been weak, and they might struggle at the home of potential champions, on Saturday.

Our prediction is a 3-1 win for Manchester City
